What is special about Vivekanandha Rock Memorial?
A life size statue of Swami Vivekanandha has been built inside the memorial. The design of the mandapam shows the architecture style of different parts of India. Since the atmosphere is serene and calm, visitors can sit and meditate here. The beach has the pride of nature’s gift to the mankind - fantastic views of sunrise and sunset, quite breathtaking in full moon days. The simultaneous setting of sun and emerging of moon is awesome to the human eye. The seashore formed by the merging of the three oceans is rough. History of Vivekanandha Rock Memorial
This was built in 1970 by Shri Eknath Ranade in memory of Swami Vivekanandha who visited this place in December 1892 for enlightenment and deep meditation. The merger of three seas, Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean can be seen from this memorial. The rock is believed to be sacred. According to Hindu religion, Virgin Goddess Devikumari touched the rock with her foot and hence known as Sripada Parai.
